At our yard in Vlaardingen, nine straddle carriers have been delivered for dismantling. MNE was responsible for transporting the carriers from Sweden to the Netherlands and will also carry out the dismantling process. The remaining scrap will be processed by Jansen Recycling Group into high-quality secondary raw materials—contributing to a circular economy and supporting the sustainable reuse of metals.

he straddle carriers originated from Sweden, where they were used for decades at a container terminal. After reaching the end of their operational life, the machines needed to be dismantled. MNE handled the on-site removal and arranged sea transport to the Netherlands.
Upon arrival at the Vlaardingen yard, each unit is carefully lifted from the vessel—no small task, considering that each straddle carrier weighs around 70,000 kilos. Measuring approximately 13 metres in height, 10 metres in length, and 6.5 metres in width, their sheer size makes handling a logistical challenge.
All in all, this project showcases a strong collaboration between two professional partners—demonstrating expertise in logistics, dismantling, and the sustainable processing of metals.
